Game of Thrones is one of the most decorated series in television history. The highly acclaimed series still holds the record for the most number of Emmy Awards won to date. The show’s cast is still winning heaps of praise and awards, showcasing their amazing talent. Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen, famous for playing Theon Greyjoy, who had one of the best story arcs in the show, has been nominated for a Tony Award, the highest honor given to the best stage performances.
Allen has been nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his role in Hangmen, a comedy act about a British executioner adjusting to his newfound life after execution by hanging is outlawed in 1965. He thanked the crew of Hangmen and Broadway in a recent Instagram post.
He wrote: “Being a part of the Hangmen ensemble has just been a phenomenal experience and I share this nomination with all of the cast with whom I share the stage each night. The role of Mooney is written by the brilliant Martin McDonagh with so many layers, and I am so grateful to both Martin and Matthew Dunster for guiding my performance with such grace and skill. I know this year has been full of challenges and it gives me so much pride to be part of the returning season of Broadway shows after what was far too long a hiatus. I’m so grateful to be recognized by the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League. Thank you!”
