GAME Of Thrones is casting eight new characters for its final season, with details of the new characters giving fans a few interesting plot hints.
The hit drama, which is likely to air in 2019, has put out a casting call for a “sassy and attractive girl” from the North along with a “colourful young Northern actor” to play a sentry.
And according to Game Of Thrones fan site Watchers On The Wall, the show is also looking for a mercenary character who’ll be busy filming the show until next June.
The character is described as: “An authoritative, fit, cool and charismatic military type” and will need to be “able to ride a horse.”
It’s likely that the mercenary role could be linked to the evil Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek).
At the end of the last season, he was sent to go and retrieve the sellswords of the infamous Golden Company to fight for the plotting Cersei Lannister.
There’s also a call for a “rough and ready, sea-faring type” sailor which the website reckons could signal a renewed focus on the Ironborn next season.
Fans will recall Theon Greyhjoy’s (Alfie Allen) bid to rescue sister Yara from Cersei’s clutches in the final episode.
Another new character will be a 25-35-year-old farmer described as a “straightforward, honest man of simple tastes who works on the land”.
There’s another hint that the show could explore further outside the boundaries of Westeros with a request for two guards roles to film in Spain.
The TV series overtook George RR Martin’s novels long ago – so how the Game of Thrones will eventually pan out remains a secret.
Of course, this hasn’t stopped fans speculating feverishly over who will eventually take the Iron Throne.
What seems certain next season is that Jon Snow (or is that Aegon Targaryen?) will finally learn the truth of his parentage – which might make things awkward now that he’s romped with Daenerys, his aunt.
And now that the White Walkers and their undead hordes have breached the wall, and have an ice dragon at their disposal, Jon, Daenerys and co will need all the help they can get.
