Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke has ‘kicked off Khaleesi’s boots’ and penned an emotional message – from the top of a mountain, no less.
You could never call her predictable.
The Daenerys Targaryen actress, who said goodbye to the beloved fantasy series back in May, shared her trip up the Dolomites in Italy on Instagram, and looked absolutely over the moon about it as she grinned away.
Emilia shared snaps of the beautiful scenery, an (understandably empty) glass of wine and herself rocking some tricky yoga poses.
‘The long and winding road to kicking off khaleesi’s boots and trudging home in my own shoes once again,’ she wrote. ‘@imogen_f_lloyd you and these staggering mountains got my head to chill and my a** to light it’s own goddamn fire.
‘Insta world it’s been a journey to get here but hell im happy to stop and admire that view…’ she continued, before outdoing herself with hashtags.
‘#Sweatingmywaythroughthecobwebs #goodbyemylover #whenchangeisacomingdontgorunning #stopandsmellthe5dayhikedbootsnotroses #dolomitesyouhavemyheartsoulandsweat,’ the 32-year-old added.
With the actress playing the character for a good eight years, it’s understandable she felt a bit emotional saying goodbye, as she made clear in documentary The Last Watch.
Filmmaker Jeanie Finlay made The Last Watch and said she wanted to make a film about ‘human emotions’ in the process.
‘There is a lot of tears in the film,’ she told Metro.co.uk. ‘Emilia is crying at the read through ‘I think that people who work or star in Game of Thrones, this has been their life for 10 years.’
Jeanie added: ‘Watching Emilia – watching Daenerys crying over Ser Jorah, it’s really moving.
‘You don’t just think “Oh, I’m just watching a take” you really are swept away with the story. It’s really special.’
And she’s not the only one that shed a few tears at the ending of the show (no, we’re not talking about ourselves) after Kit Harington was seen breaking down during the table read.
‘He was crying,’ Emilia told Entertainment Weekly about the moment her co-star read that Jon would kill Daenerys.
‘I looked at Emilia and there was a moment of me realizing, “No, no…”’ Kit said.
Emilia herself admitted she ‘completely flipped out’ when she read the season eight script.
‘What, what, what, WHAT!?’ she remembered thinking. ‘Because it comes out of f***ing nowhere. I’m flabbergasted. Absolutely never saw that coming.’
