Emmy 2019 nomination submissions are in and the final season of Game of Thrones is expected to clean up – but fans are concerned by some cast members left out of the running.
HBO submitted the series for consideration and now the public can see which episodes and cast members the producers have put forward for awards and fans are not impressed by one glaring absence – The Hound actor Rory McCann.
In fact, the only male actors who got the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series nod are Alfie Allen, Pilou Asbaek, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage and Richard Dormer.
While we don’t disagree that the above are not deserving, we definitely feel Rory should be included in that list.
The snub has not gone unnoticed and fans have taken to Twitter to voice their annoyance and support the beloved Scottish actor.
One fan wrote: ‘I’m really sad Rory McCann hasn’t been put forward as a potential Emmy nominee He’s always been amazing as The Hound #thehound #sandorclegane #gameofthrones #emmys2019 @GameOfThrones.’
While another added: ‘Since HBO for some reason wont submit Iain Glen, @liamcunningham1, Rory McCann, and @johnbradleywest for Emmy’s, I’m willing to learn how to craft them myself because that’s how much these guys deserve awards.’
Another tweet reads: ‘Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion?? Not Rory McCann as The Hound? Sandor Clegane was a main character. His acting was superb. And The Hound BEAT Beric, and HE was the one chosen by the gods.’
Meanwhile, in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category, Stark girls Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams were included alongside Gwendoline Christie and Lena Headey.
Both Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington were submitted in their respective Outstanding Lead Actor categories.
Game of Thrones season 8 is available on Now TV.
