Game Of Thrones’ Brienne Of Tarth is not an easily shaken woman, and neither is the actress that plays her, Gwendoline Christie.

So when she says that just reading the scripts of the season eight finale left her ‘deeply startled’ you can’t help but wonder…what on earth did she read?!?

With the countdown to the beginning of the final season officially hitting single digits, the level of hype has pretty much hit an unbearable level – and then someone goes and makes us even more worried about what we’re about to witness.

Speaking on Good Morning America, Gwendoline said: ‘I was doing some work in Canada, and I woke up at 4 a.m, checked my e-mail because I heard the scripts might be coming through, and they dropped in.

‘I sat there, and I read them all the way through from the start to the end. And it was a real emotional roller coaster, because things happened that deeply startled me, upset me. I went bright red in the face.’

‘I had to put them down,’ she continued. ‘I was sort of walking around. I had to go out for a walk… It was a really extraordinary experience, and I realised they had pulled out all the stops for this one.’

Whatever is about to happen, it’s pretty obvious we’re not ready.

In the meantime, Gwendoline can bask in the knowledge she well and truly stole the show at the series premiere in New York last week.

Unflinchingly ready for battle and unwavering in her loyalty, Brienne’s close devotion to Jaime Lannister has finally come into question during the seventh season.

Add that to her kinship with the young Arya Stark, and it’s clear that the female warrior will be in for a testing time in the final eight episodes.

‘I think just the show ending is going to send all of the world into professional help,’ Gwendoline told E! News.

Crikey. If anyone hurts out favourite warrior then the battle of the Seven Kingdoms will be the least of anyone’s worries.

Game Of Thrones returns 14 April on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
