Kit Harington is trading The Wall for Hogwarts. The Game of Thrones star has been cast as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart in the new Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Full Cast Audio Edition, arriving on Audible on December 16, 2025. The project is part of a major new initiative to reimagine the Harry Potter series as fully dramatized audiobooks with a large ensemble rather than a single narrator.

Kit Harington’s “unrecognizable” take on Lockhart
Early previews of the audio showcase Harington sounding almost unrecognizable as the vain, self‑obsessed Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. His performance leans hard into Lockhart’s theatrical bravado and shameless self‑promotion, echoing Kenneth Branagh’s bombastic film version while still bringing a distinct vocal energy to the role. In this edition, Lockhart bursts onto the scene during his Diagon Alley book signing, dragging Harry into the spotlight in one of the character’s most over-the-top introductions.
The new production features Cush Jumbo as the primary narrator, with Frankie Treadaway voicing Harry Potter, giving the story a cinematic, radio‑play texture. Harington’s Lockhart slices through that soundscape as a deliberately overblown presence, his big ego and bigger performance contrasting with the more grounded child voices around him.

A stacked ensemble and full-series rollout
Chamber of Secrets is the second entry in the Full Cast Audio Editions line, following Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which launched in November. The ensemble includes: Max Lester as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Hugh Laurie as Dumbledore, Riz Ahmed as Snape, Michelle Gomez as McGonagall, Matthew Macfadyen as Voldemort, Simon Pegg as Arthur Weasley, and Alex Hassell as Lucius Malfoy.
The remaining books are scheduled to release monthly through 2026:
-
Prisoner of Azkaban – January 13
-
Goblet of Fire – February 10
-
Order of the Phoenix – March 10
-
Half‑Blood Prince – April 14
-
Deathly Hallows – May 12
For Harington—fresh off projects like HBO’s Industry and gothic horror film The Dreadful—Lockhart offers a rare opportunity to go fully comedic and flamboyant using only his voice. For listeners, it’s a chance to hear one of TV’s most brooding heroes reinvented as one of Hogwarts’s most ridiculous, self‑mythologizing professors.
