A new theory reckons Daenerys’ changing braid hairstyle isn’t entirely cosmetic, and could be an intentional decision which harks back to Dothraki tradition.

Even hair styles on Game Of Thrones seem to contain teasing clues about characters, with many believing Sansa’s hair was beginning to emulate Cersei’s commanding locks in a show of admiration for the Iron Throne ruler.

Daenerys Targaryen’s epic braids however have slowly grown in length over the series, with Reddit user FirFlyNeo pointing out how the Mother Of Dragons’ locks have started to closely resemble Khal Drogo’s divine ponytail.

Back in season one, Daenerys told her brother how braids symbolized victories in Dothraki customs, shouting him down over his off-hand comment about adopting the hairstyle because he hadn’t won any battles.

Over the course of the seven seasons, Daenerys however has earned some major battle victories – hence the increasing number of braids before our very eyes on the show.

Khal Drogo similarly had flowing locks because of his untarnished record when it comes to warfare, telling the world to fear his almighty wrath simply with a swish of the hair.

Interestingly, actress Emilia Clarke recently showed off how she’s chopped her hair to a shorter length – so could this be an indicator Daenerys is chopping her braids after losing one of her dragons to the White Walkers?

Or, you know, she could be preparing a new look for the impending wedding between Kit Harington and Rose Leslie. You’ve got to try these things in advance.
