Night King actor Vladimir Furdik has gone on record saying the antagonist has one specific target in Game of Thrones Season 8.

Warning: mild spoilers below.

In an interview with EW, Furdik said the Night King has a target, and while he didn’t explicitly say it’s Jon Snow, he seemed to imply as much. However, here’s our theory on why we think that target could be another character entirely.

“People will see he has a target he wants to kill, and you will find out who that is,” says Furdik. “There’s also that moment [in the fifth season episode Hardhome] when Jon Snow was on the boat and the Night King looked at him and raised his arms — there’s a similar and even stronger moment between Jon and the Night King this time.”

When asked what the Night King wants, Furdik said “Somebody made him the Night King. Nobody knows who he was before — a soldier or part of [nobility]. He never wanted to be the Night King. I think he wants revenge. Everybody in this story has two sides — a bad side and a good side. The Night King only has one side, a bad side.”

Finally, when asked what his all-time favorite Night King scene was, Furdik said “That’s still coming.”

Furdik hasn’t played the Night King throughout Game of Thrones, as Richard Brake held that honor in Seasons 4 and 5. Furdik took over the role in Season 6 after playing the first White Walker Snow kills the previous season.
