Naomi Watts admits she never got round to watching Game Of Thrones when it first started in 2011.
The actress admitted she is currently binge-watching the hit fantasy series and is loving it.
Which is probably just as well as she has been cast in the prequel pilot produced by Game Of Thrones creator George RR Martin.
Little is known about the planned spin-off, other than it’ll take place thousands of years before events in Game Of Thrones in the Age Of Heroes.
In Game Of Thrones lore, the Age Of Heroes began with the pact which brought about peace between the First Men and the Children Of The Forest at the end of the Dawn Age.
Naomi revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she has been doing some swatting up.
She confessed: ‘I am late coming to it, I have to say, but that’s how I am with lots of things in life.
‘I am binging it right now and studying. It’s very exciting.’
The period the prequel is set in is strongly tied with the Long Night, an intense Winter which lasted an entire generation pitting the Westeros population in a battle against the undead.
Recently Martin had to apologise after claiming that the prequel was, in fact, called The Long Night after HBO told him off.
After saying sorry, he also said that the ‘pilot is coming along well’, and teased a couple of other related projects he’s been cooking up.
He said: ‘We also have a couple of other successor shows still in development, but I cannot tell you about those either. Sorry. And some exciting things are happening with the Wild Cards television series, but I can’t talk about those…
‘Hush hush, it’s Hollywood, they like news to come through officially approved channels out there.’
Game Of Thrones is set to return in 2019 for its final season.
Creators David Benioff and DB Weiss teased that the opening shot of season eight will tease the start of a huge fight across Westros, much like the beginning of season one did.
The pair revealed to Entertainment Weekly that season eight will kick off will Daenerys arriving at Winterfell with her armies to face off against the White Walkers.
This will reflect the first episode in season one back in 2011 with Robert Baratheon arriving at Winterfell to ask for Ned Stark’s help in King’s Landing…and we all know how that turned out.
