Richard Madden has confessed that even he is still a little heartbroken at his character Robb Stark’s death in Game of Thrones’ Red Wedding.
Years later, the brutal slaying of his family, wife and unborn child still sickens viewers of the long-running fantasy favourite – and even actor Richard is a little scarred from it.
Richard, who has most recently his the spotlight thanks to his role in BBC smash Bodyguard, is clearly no stranger to brutal scenes, but even he has admitted that the Red Wedding will probably be with him forever.
Speaking to Variety, he revealed: ‘People are really engaged with me on Bodyguard, which is interesting, and people are heartbroken for this man and where he was in his life.
‘I suppose nothing is going to be the same as the reaction to the Robb Stark death, which is a great way to die, and a lot of people are still very heartbroken by that.’
The comment comes after Richard revealed that he got paid ‘fuck all’ for his time on Game of Thrones, because he wasn’t a big enough name to get a hefty pay packet.
Speaking to The Sunday Times in September, the actor said: ‘People think I am [loaded] because of Game Of Thrones, but you know, when I signed up for that I was 22, with fuck all on my CV, so I was paid fuck all.’
In contrast, he now has the biggest BBC drama to date under his belt, with the show bringing in the highest ratings since records began.
It’s not rumoured he could even be making a comeback for a second season.
Game of Thrones returns next year, and Bodyguard is available on BBC iPlayer now.
