Game of Thrones finally unleashed its first footage from season eight and fans have already deciphered one massive spoiler.
Yesterday HBO released a trailer for their upcoming roster of shows, including Big Little Lies, True Detective and their most successful show to date, GoT.
While the little snippets on screen gave little away, other than Jon Snow reuniting with his sister Sansa Stark, eagle-eyed fans think they’ve clocked on to the meeting we’ve been waiting eight years for – When Dany met Sansa.
Look closely and you’ll notice a scene when Jon hugs Sansa, though she appears to be distracted.
That distraction? Mother of Dragons and all around boss, Dany – according to the fans at least.
Reddit users have almost unanimously decided Jon’s lover and aunt has arrived in Westeros to a frosty reception from the Winterfell monarch, with Praised_Be_The_Fruit posting: ‘I think she might be looking at Dany.’
‘Most likely first episode. He probably meets Arya right after this hug and then introduces Daenerys,’ wrote LetTheSeeYou.
Kanaenystararyen agreed: ‘I think Sansa saw Daenerys arriving behind jon that’s why she looks upset.’
Sadly,we’ve got an agonising wait ahead as Game of Thrones’ final series was seemingly delayed again after visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer told Huffington Post that the series wouldn’t be eligible for the Emmys next year.
‘We’re going to be toiling away on season eight until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away,’ he explained.
Since shows have to air the majority of their episodes before 31 May in any given year to qualify for Emmy nominations, it’s a fair bet on those grounds that Game Of Thrones won’t be airing before then.
However, Bauer did confirm that the show will come to an end in 2019, so at least fans know roughly when winter will finally arrive.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO in 2019.
