Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau says Jaime Lannister got ‘the perfect’ send off (Picture: HBO)

Now that the Game of Thrones trailer has been suitably dissected and the official running times of the last ever episodes confirmed, everyone is busy racking their brains over where all our favourite characters could end up,

We already know that the White King has a plot to kill somebody and that the odds for Euon Greyjoy’s survival are looking pretty slim, and now Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has confirmed that Jaime Lannister will get the ‘perfect’ send off in the series eight ending.

Talking about his epic send off, Nikolaj teased: ‘I had a great last scene. It was absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect way to end.

‘Obviously I can’t tell you what the scene was. It wasn’t the final scene (of the series), but it was close to the end, and it was shot at a beautiful location.’

He continued: ‘At this point, I had seen quite a lot of colleagues wrap, so I had seen a lot of tears, beautiful speeches, and I knew what to expect.’

Does this mean Jaime wins the Iron Throne? Does this mean he defeats the White Walkers? Or does this mean he simply escapes the show with his life?

‘I find Jaime so interesting,’ Nikolaj added to Star2. ‘The core of this guy is that he does what he does in the name of love. He’s a complex guy.

‘That’s the key to Game Of Thrones, the characters are never just black and white. Even though his story is set in this fantastical world and his circumstances are extreme, he is relatable.’

Game of Thrones returns 14 April on Sky Atlantic and HBO, and is available to watch on NOW TV.
