It’s been 152 days since we had our last slice of action in Westeros.

And that feels like an eternity! Like, seriously… longest Winter ever, right?

But just like the Night King and his army of White Walkers, HBO’s Game of Thrones won’t sleep forever (just yet) as Maisie Williams has potentially confirmed the air date of the show’s eighth and final series.

The 20-year-old actress let slip that we can expect to see the show hit our screens in April 2019, which is some way away, but better than having to wait for a summer release.

Cue unbridled excitement, and a feast bigger than anything Robert Baratheon ever threw to celebrate.

Speaking to Metro, she said: ‘We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.’

That means there’s plenty of time for the cast and crew to polish the finale into something truly spectacular, and it might also help them that little extra time to work on the rumoured multiple false endings.

Everything Maisie has said seems to chime with what her co-star Peter Dinklage hinted at during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival.

He told Variety: ‘It’s the final season, and it’s a long one so we’re taking our time.’

That said it seems likes series eight is turning out to be an emotional roller coaster for the cast, as the Pixels star said of their final run:

‘It’s bittersweet when it’s time to move on with everything. It’s always the sad part of our business, because you get pockets of great people for short amounts of time and then you have to move on and it’s always heartbreaking. Especially when you’ve spent more than a couple months with people.’

That said there seems to be some surprisingly good projects coming up that could help us get over our own grief at losing GOT, but let’s not think about that sunset just yet.
