The fabled conquest of Aegon the Conqueror is perhaps one of the most well-known tales from Martin’s realm of Westeros. And there’s a high chance that story will end up on TV screens with a little bit of luck and quality. It is one of the newest stories confirmed to being developed by HBO at the moment.

Game of Thrones spinoff based on Aegon’s Conquest to be helmed by The Batman Part II writer

After several yes and nos, the Game of Thrones spinoff about Aegon’s Conquest is finally on track. According to a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel has been confirmed to be in development at HBO. Moreover, The Batman Part II writer, Mattson Tomlin, has been signed in to create the project. As described by an insider, HBO is reportedly taking a “back to basics” approach with Aegon the Conqeuror’s storyline.

George R. R. Martin will write more about Aegon’s prophecy in his upcoming books

Aegon’s Prophecy holds a lot of significance in the Game of Thrones universe. Author George R. R. Martin has yet to explain more about the prophecy, and he intends to do so in his future books. He once said in an earlier interview:

“I don’t want to give too much away, because some of this is going to be in the later books, but this is 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. There was no sell-by date on that prophecy. That’s the issue.”
