His Dark Materials viewers spotted a familiar face in the first episode of the new series on Sunday, when a Game of Thrones star made a surprise debut.
The new episode saw Lyra (Dafne Keen) arrive in a strange new world, inhabited solely by children.
And who was the familiar face among them that fans recognised instantly? It was Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey, who plays Angelica on the BBC show.
The actress became a fan favourite on Game of Thrones for her performance as the headstrong Lady Mormont.
Fans were quick to spot her on His Dark Materials, and shared their excitement on Twitter.
‘Oh my God it’s Lady Mormont!’ one wrote.
Another added: ‘Oooh it’s Lady Mormont!!! Love that young actress!’
Bella’s character Lady Mormont memorably formed an alliance with Jon Snow and House Stark on Game of Thrones, leading her house into battle alongside him.
Bella fought bravely in the Battle of Winterfell on the show, meeting her end after taking down a giant in one of the episode’s most impactful moments.
Bella is just one of the new faces on the adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s fantasy series, with His Dark Materials welcoming a host of A-list talent for the new run.
While the show was forced to cut James McAvoy’s standalone episode, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has joined the cast with her Fleabag co-star Andrew Scott, while Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jade Anouka, Simone Kirby, Ruth Wilson and Ariyon Bakare also appear.
His Dark Materials returns on Sunday at 8.10pm on BBC One.
