Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju has secured a role in new movie Cocaine Bear, which is being produced by Pitch Perfect and The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks.

Joining the actor, who played wildling leader Tormund Giantsbane in HBO drama Game of Thrones, are Uncle Frank and Mrs America star Margo Martindale, Sweet Tooth‘s Christian Convery, The Florida Project actress Brooklynn Prince, American Gods star Kahyun Kim and newcomer Scott Seiss (as reported by Deadline).

Not much is known about Cocaine Bear yet but it has been billed as “a character-driven thriller inspired by true events, which took place in Kentucky in 1985”.

These true events refer to a bear walking in Chattahoochee-Oconee national forest in December 1985, which found 40 plastic bags full of cocaine. The bear ate the cocaine and sadly died as a result.

The story goes that the drugs were dropped from a plane by a smuggler who was attempting to parachute out of the plane. He was found dead nearby after an accident with his parachute.

The cast already includes The Americans star Keri Russell, The Many Saints of Newark actor Ray Liotta, Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Alden Ehrenreich, Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Godzilla: King of the Monsters actor O’Shea Jackson Jr.

The Universal movie’s script has been written by Jimmy Warden, with The Lego Movie‘s Phil Lord and Chris Miller producing alongside Aditya Sood, and Banks and Max Handelman also producing under their Brownstone Productions banner alongside Brian Duffield. Banks will also direct the movie.

Last year, Hivju spoke about what he thinks his Game of Thrones character Tormund and Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow would be up to following the events of the drama’s big finale.

“Jon is in a huge depression, so he needs Tormund to cheer him up, by the fire, warming each other,” he said. “Tormund is pretty heartbroken himself, so maybe they can bond over that.”

Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. Spin-off House of the Dragon is now filming.
