Nathalie Emmanuel has defended the Game of Thrones show runners following controversial series finale.

Former Hollyoaks star Nathalie played Missandei in the HBO fantasy series that concluded in May, and has spoken about her opinions on its ending and insisted that a lot of the people she knew thought it was good.

Despite criticisms against David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’s direction for the final series, the 30-year-old actor has defended the show and how it concluded after eight years.

The controversy of the show’s final series revolved around character’s behaving abnormally, as well as unnecessary character deaths, including Nathalie’s Missandei, which frankly we’re still not over.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actress said: ‘In light of the reaction to the end of the season, which, by the way, I think most people I know enjoyed it — I think it’s easy to focus on the negative, and I think people forget what those two did’

Fans have since created a petition online with over a million signatures to change the ending of the final season.

Despite this, Nathalie said: ‘They literally made us hang onto their every word

‘And to me, that makes them legends.’

Benioff and Weiss have since signed onto to direct a Star Wars film with Disney, and she hopes to join the duo when they travel to a galaxy far far away.

‘If they want to cast me in Star Wars, I will be totally fine with that. Absolutely.

‘They’re awesome. I love those guys. They’re really good guys, and very talented writers, and I feel very privileged to have worked with them.’

It follows news of Benioff and Weiss talking with studios to be signed for $200 million at Amazon, Disney or Netflix as they leave HBO for new opportunities after their intergalactic film.

Speaking on the film with Disney, CEO Bob Iger said: ‘We did a deal with David Benioff and D.B Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones, and the next movie that we release will be theirs.’
