If you’re a fan of gothic horror and have yet to find your new fall TV show obsession, look no further than Interview With The Vampire on AMC. This adaptation of Anne Rice’s popular novel of the same name from 1976 puts queerness front and center as we follow protagonist Louis de Pointe du Lac’s story of sexual exploration living as a Black man in 1910s Louisiana, and of course, turning into a vampire. There’s one episode out so far and I’m already hooked on the show.

The book was adapted previously in the 1994 film Interview With The Vampire starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Christian Slater, and Antonio Banderas. A loose sequel, Queen of the Damned starring the late Aaliyah, came out in 2002 and was far less successful.

You know when you hear another adaptation is being made for the big or small screen and you think, “ugh, do we really need this?” The new Interview With The Vampire is not that! This series is a fresh take on a classic story and feels like a really awesome contemporary version so far. New episodes air every Sunday night on AMC right after The Walking Dead, so if you’re not watching, what are you waiting for?

And if you have started watching and want to learn more about the lead cast, look no further. Here are the actors you need to know:

Interview With The Vampire cast

Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac

Louis de Pointe du Lac is the protagonist of Interview With The Vampire, as the series is centered around his life story as he recounts it to journalist Daniel Molloy. This includes how he became a vampire, his relationship with Lestat de Lioncourt, and the family they form with young vampire Claudia. Louis is portrayed by actor Jacob Anderson, who fantasy fans will recognize from another big title.

Birthday: June 18, 1990

Age: 32

Height: 5’9

Where have you seen him before? Game of Thrones fans will remember Anderson as the character Grey Worm, the commander of the Unsullied who is devoted to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and forms a romance with Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel). Apart from his most popular role, Anderson has appeared in movies like Overlord (2018) and Adulthood (2008) and shows such as Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and Episodes.

You might also know Anderson for his music career, where he goes by the name Raleigh Ritchie. Check out his song “Bloodsport” here. It’s one of my favorites by him!

What’s next? Interview With The Vampire will no doubt be a big show for Anderson, but he’s also got another project on the way. He will appear in an upcoming film called Timestalker alongside Sex Education‘s Tanya Reynolds.

In the Interview With The Vampire movie, Louis is played by Brad Pitt.

Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt

The character Lestat de Lioncourt is almost as important as Louis in Interview With The Vampire, as he’s the vampire who turns him. Louis is immediately drawn to Lestat, an incredibly handsome and charming man from France, when they meet at a brothel. Lestat awakens something in Louis that he cannot ignore. Actor Sam Reid plays the alluring character.

Birthday: February 19, 1987

Age: 35

Where have you seen him before? Though Reid might be less recognizable than his co-star, he’s appeared in a handful of movies and shows over the years. He played John Davinier in the 2013 movie Belle and starred in the Australian shows The Newsreader and Lambs of God. Other titles he’s appeared in include ABC’s The Astronaut Wives Club, ITV’s Prime Suspect: Tennison, and SBS’ The Hunting.

What’s next? Reid doesn’t have any upcoming credits on his IMDb page, though we’re sure he’ll be cast in a more parts once people see him in Interview With The Vampire.

In the Interview With The Vampire movie, Lestat is portrayed by Tom Cruise.

Interview With The Vampire opens up with the character Daniel Molloy in 2022, a successful author and journalist who receives a letter from Louis and is immediately intrigued. He agrees to interview Louis again all these years later, this time sober and determined to get the real story.

Birthday: April 24, 1953

Age: 63

Height: 6’0

Where have you seen him before? Bogosian has had supporting roles in a handful of popular TV shows and movies, including Succession, Billions, The Get Down and Uncut Gems. He’ll also appear in a movie called Reptile, which is slated for a 2023 release. Actor Steven Norfleet plays Louis’ brother, Paul de Pointe du Lac. Although the siblings are close, they have their differences since Louis runs a brothel and Paul is extremely religious. Unfortunately, Paul takes his own life in Episode 1, “In Throes of Increasing Wonder…,” so we may not see Norfleet in the series again unless he appears in flashbacks. He does a great job portraying the character in the premiere.

Where have you seen him before? We couldn’t confirm Norfleet’s age or height online, but we do know what he’s acted in prior to Interview With The Vampire. He’s best known for playing O.B. Williams in the critically acclaimed HBO show of Watchmen and has also appeared in shows like Chicago P.D., Genius, Power, Dynasty, Shameless, and Underground. With 15 credits to his name on his IMDb page, Norfleet is just getting started!

What’s next? It doesn’t look like Norfleet has any projects lined up, but we’re hoping that’ll change soon.

Kalyne Coleman as Grace de Pointe du Lac

Louis is close with his immediate family, which includes his sister Grace de Pointe du Lac, played by Kalyne Coleman. In Episode 1, Grace is getting ready for her wedding. After Paul’s death, Louis finds himself a bit isolated from the family, but Grace seems to be there for him.

Where have you seen her before? As an up-and-comer, we also couldn’t find much information online about Coleman. However, we know that she’s very new to the acting scene and so far has only appeared in a short called Dog Bite.

What’s next? According to her IMDb page, Coleman starred in another short called 800lb Gorilla which was made in 2018 but has yet to be released. Similar to the rest of the cast, we hope to see the actress in more projects in the future!

Rae Dawn Chong as Florence de Pointe du Lac

Louis has a complicated relationship with his mother, Florence de Pointe du Lac. Although they’re close, Florence blames Louis for Paul’s death because they were together when it happened. His mother needs to take her anger and sadness out on someone, and Louis feels a lot of pain because of it. Florence is played by the actress Rae Dawn Chong, who happens to be the daughter of comedian Tommy Chong!

Birthday: February 28, 1961

Age: 61

Height: 5’8

Where have you seen her before? Chong has a long resume of acting credits, starting with her film debut in the 1978 musical Stony Island. She appeared in a handful of movies in the ’80s and ’90s, including Quest for Fire (1981), Beat Street (1984), Commando (1985), The Color Purple (1985), Hideaway (1995), and more. More recently, she played Betty Currie in American Crime Story: Impeachment.

What’s next? Coming up, Chong will narrate a documentary called Street Signs: Homeless But Not Hopeless and will appear in a movie called The Raven, based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, alongside horror legend Tony Todd.

Claudia is a prominent character in the series who has yet to make her debut, but when she does it’ll be epic. As fans familiar with the story know, the young girl is turned into a vampire by Lestat and they form a complicated relationship. With Louis, the group becomes an unconventional family of vampires. Claudia is played by the up-and-coming actress Bailey Bass.

Birthday: June 18, 2003

Age: 19

Where have you seen her before? As a new actress, Bass has only appeared in a few titles, including an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and the movies Moon and Sun (2014), The Jenkins Family Christmas (2021), and Psycho Sweet 16 (2022). But she might soon become a household name with the projects she has coming up.

What’s next? Bailey is slated to appear in the next three Avatar movies, starting with the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water. She will play a character named Tsireya, who is described as “a graceful and strong free-diver – the young Neytiri of the ocean.” The Avatar sequel is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.

In the Interview With The Vampire movie, Claudia is played by Kirsten Dunst.
