HBO has officially confirmed the casting of three major new characters for season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The names and photos of these three actors were revealed via Game of Thrones’ official social media pages. The additions are Lucy Boynton as Lady Rohanne Webber (known as the Red Widow), Babou Ceesay as Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, and Peter Mullan as Ser Eustace Osgrey. They are set to bring fresh talent to the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s second Dunk & Egg novella, The Sworn Sword.

Quick read:
• Lucy Boynton as Lady Rohanne Webber
• Babou Ceesay as Ser Bennis
Peter Mullan as Eustace Osgrey

Where will Dunk and Egg come across these characters?

The season, already in production, picks up roughly a year after season 1’s events at the Tourney of Ashford Meadow. Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg find themselves amid a drought in the Reach, caught in a tense land and water dispute between neighboring houses. This conflict draws them into service with Ser Eustace Osgrey, a proud but aging lord haunted by losses from the Blackfyre Rebellion. This forces Dunk to confront the enigmatic and formidable Lady Rohanne Webber, whose fearsome reputation as a “widow-maker” hides political cunning and complex motives. All the while, they cross paths with the rough, unwashed hedge knight, Ser Bennis.

Lucy Boynton as Lady Rohanne Webber

Lucy Boynton, renowned for her breakout role as Mary Austin in the Oscar-nominated biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), brings depth to Lady Rohanne. The character is a young, sharp-witted noblewoman of House Webber, often rumored to be a witch responsible for her late husbands’ deaths, though the truth is far more nuanced.

Boynton’s previous credits include standout performances in Sing Street (2016), Murder on the Orient Express (2017), and The Pale Blue Eye (2022).

Babou Ceesay as Ser Bennis

Babou Ceesay takes on Ser Bennis, a crude, opportunistic hedge knight with a mean streak and questionable hygiene. He is described in the books as a far cry from Dunk’s honorable code as a hedge knight.

Ceesay has had a great presence in sci-fi and drama world. He is best known for his intense portrayal of the cold cyborg security officer Morrow in Alien: Earth (2025), as well as roles in Guerrilla (2017) opposite Idris Elba, The Best of Enemies (2019), and Into the Badlands (as the antagonist Pilgrim).

Peter Mullan as Ser Eustace Osgrey

Peter Mullan, a veteran Scottish actor and director embodies Ser Eustace Osgrey: an elderly knight clinging to past glories, old grudges, and faded pride. Mullan’s career includes iconic turns in Trainspotting (1996), Braveheart (1995), My Name Is Joe (1998 – for which he won Best Actor at Cannes), Ozark, Westworld, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (as Durin III), and The Witcher (as Vesemir).

This casting continues HBO’s strong track record of matching talent to George R.R. Martin’s richly textured Westerosi world. The upcoming season promises new challenges for Egg and Dunk, while staying from Dunk’s POV.
