Reflecting on the intensity of audience criticism, Frankel said: “I think they’re too hard on him. I really do. But you know mainly because I’ve to sort of bear the cross. And what a cross to bear. Yea he gets it pretty tough.”
He went on to compare Cole’s reception with other figures in the series: “I feel like there are other characters that have done so much worse stuff and everyone else seems to kind of get off pretty scott‑free. I feel like basically in this show if you have white hair you’re pretty much chilling in terms of fan reaction about anything.”
