“I feel very protective of it still. I know how much care and how much love and how much work and how much life went into making it, and the conversations that would have happened and the arguments around the table about what way to go and what thing to do. It’s not a small process. It’s an incredibly complex and lengthy and intricate process.”
He emphasized that the same team responsible for the first seven seasons; the people who brought George R.R. Martin’s story to television were the right ones to conclude it.
Acknowledging mistakes but standing firm
Harington acknowledged that the season may have had flaws, but he firmly believes the creators made the best decisions they could.
“There may have been mistakes, but we can all decide whether we liked it or not… But there’s no doubt in my head that what they did is the right thing because they’re the people who brought it to us. And I kind of stand by that. I feel very defensive of it as a show and as a season, and I think I always will, actually.”
His comments highlight the immense pressure and personal toll the final season took on the cast and crew, while also defending the love and effort poured into bringing the epic saga to a close. Kit Harington’s honest and loyal stance toward season 8 offers a rare insider perspective on one of television’s most debated finales. Even years later, his attachment to the show and its legacy remains strong.
