Ira Parker worked on the first season of House of the Dragon, which premiered in 2022. Fast forward to 2026, and he has earned high praise for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. In a conversation with the A.V. Club, he was asked if he would return to writing for the Ryan Condal-led show at any point.

Parker said, “I think they’re already well on their way with the show. From what I’ve seen and heard of season three, it’s incredible stuff, and they’re already well on their way into season four. So that was a lot of fun for one season, but hopefully, I’ll get to stick with Dunk and Egg for as long as possible.”

Given the incredible response to the screen adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s The Hedge Knight, fans are more than willing to trust Parker’s vision for the unlikely Westerosi duo. Martin’s approval of Parker’s work only further underscores the strength and thoughtfulness of his approach.

Ira Parker called Ryan Condal his ‘Ser Arlan’

Without Ser Arlan’s interference, Dunk would have probably ended up dead or spent the rest of his life as an orphan in Flea Bottom. By giving Dunk a chance to squire for him, Ser Arlan changed his destiny. Ryan Condal did something similar for Ira Parker by personally backing him to lead A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as showrunner.

Reflecting on this, Parker said, “House Of The Dragon was my entry into this world. Ryan Condal is the reason I have my current job. In a lot of ways, he’s my Ser Arlan. I’m so grateful for him because he pulled me into Westeros and gave me these opportunities. His love for this world is infectious.”A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has already been greenlit for a second season and will likely be out in 2027.
