What Ira Parker said about the new characters and their actors
Speaking about the dynamic between Rohanne and Dunk, Parker revealed:
“She has a way of making Dunk uncomfortable, which is very good for us. Some of our other characters on season 1 did that very well, and that’s what we need from the Red Widow for a variety of reasons. This is essentially Dunk wading into politics. Maybe he’s gotten pretty good with a sword and pretty good riding a horse and being a sword for hire, but not so good at talking to highborn ladies or politicking in general. So somebody who can make him feel back-footed is gonna lead to good situations for us.”

He went on to describe Ser Bennis as a strong narrative contrast to the honorable hedge knight that Dunk is:
“Ser Bennis is a great foil to Dunk. He’s kind of the anti-Dunk in a lot of ways.”
Parker also called Rohanne “this really interesting, complicated woman,” suggesting she will be far more than a simple love interest or antagonist. Her presence is expected to challenge Dunk both emotionally and intellectually, pushing him to question his ideals of knighthood.
Who are Ser Bennis and Rohanne Webber?
These two characters originate from George R.R. Martin’s second Dunk and Egg novella, The Sworn Sword. Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield is a cynical, battle-hardened, and often ruthless hedge knight. Unlike the honorable and idealistic Dunk, Bennis is pragmatic to a fault and willing to use dirty tactics to survive.
Rohanne Webber, the Red Widow, is the Lady of Coldmoat. She is a sharp-witted, strong-willed, and formidable noblewoman who rules her lands with intelligence and determination. Known for her red hair and commanding presence, she becomes a central figure in Dunk’s journey, creating both romantic tension and political intrigue.
With Peter Claffey returning as Dunk and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, the addition of Babou Ceesay and Lucy Boynton promises richer character dynamics.
