Earlier this week, Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and talked about Bran’s role in Game of Thrones season 8, and his time on the show in general. We’re only one episode into season 8, and already people have theories about Bran’s — sorry, the Three-Eyed Raven’s — motivations.

So what is Bran’s deal these days? Is he good? Is he evil? Both? Neither? Wright gives his take:

I think he’s the Three-Eyed Raven, who is definitely on the side of the living. But…

But what, Isaac Hempstead Wright? BUT WHAT?

Next: Build your own Small Council!

Other fun tidbits:

  • Kimmel then asked Wright if he’d heard the theory that Bran was the Night King, which he has. “I can neither confirm nor deny.”
  • Kimmel breaks down the semantics of saying that Bran is “on the side of the living.” So Bran can’t be the Night King, then, because he’s not alive. “Who says the Night King is dead?” Wright asks.
  • As Bran, Wright has honed his soul-crushing stare. “It’s actually aided by the fact that I’m completely blind when I’m on set; I don’t have my glasses and I don’t wear contact lenses.”
  • When he met his flatmates at college, they freaked out and suddenly everyone knew the Three-Eyed Raven was in the dorm. He also once accidentally spoiled the end of season 6 to a professor. He’s dropped out of college for now, which is probably for the best. Wait until the hype has died down.

Also on Jimmy Kimmel: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), who teaches Kimmel Danish.

We’ll see more of these two when Game of Thrones Episode 802, “The Case of the Missing Title,” airs on HBO this Sunday.
