The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are out now on Disney+, which means we’re all walking around the house making lightsaber noises and eagerly awaiting the next episode. The show sees Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprise their roles as Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader from the Star Wars prequels, alongside a slew of other familiar faces. This, more than any other Star Wars show that has premiered on Disney+, feels deeply rooted in George Lucas’ films; it has to, considering that Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place around halfway between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

The limited series also has plenty of new characters, and there’s one in particular who might have looked a bit familiar. If you thought you might have seen a surprise appearance from a famous member of the California rock music scene, you weren’t mistaken. Flea, the bassist of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, was in these first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan Kenobi cast Flea

If you thought you were dreaming when Flea came on screen in Obi-Wan Kenobi, you probably weren’t the only one. But this was no Californication: the musician is actually in the show. Flea plays a character named Vect Nokru, a bounty hunter hired by Reva (Moses Ingram) to kidnap a young Princess Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) in order to lure Obi-Wan out of hiding. He’s a bit of a typical, moustache-twirling villain, but the actor/musician fully commits to the part.

After taking Leia to the planet Daiyu, Vect (who I will never not just think of as “Flea”) is eventually defeated by Obi-Wan when he comes to rescue Leia. But since the Jedi has a strict moral code, he simply leaves Vect and his cronies unconscious.

Unfortunately, the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend) is not so forgiving. While interrogating Vect to try and get more information about Obi-Wan, the disciple of the Dark Side uses his spinning lightsaber to put an untimely end to Vect Nokru. So while it was cool to see Flea in Obi-Wan Kenobi, it’s unlikely we’ll see him return.

The remaining four episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi will be dropping on Disney+ every Wednesday. Whether we see Flea back as Vect Nokru or not, showrunner Deborah Chow has promised many more cameos on the way:
