Josh Whitehouse has been cast in a lead role for the Game Of Thrones prequel spin-off.

Following the recent announcement of Naomi Watts and confirmation of the prequel’s title The Long Night, Josh Whitehouse has become the latest addition to the forthcoming spin-off (via Deadline).

If you’re unfamiliar, the British actor has starred in hit flick Northern Soul and can also be seen as playing Hugh Armitage in BBC drama Poldark.

Game Of Thrones creator George RR Martin recently confirmed the show’s title in a tweet, writing: ‘Casting is now underway for THE LONG NIGHT, the first of the GAME OF THRONES successor series to be ordered to film.

‘HBO has just announced the first cast member: NAOMI WATTS is coming on board as one of our stars.’

Little is known about the planned spin-off, other than it’ll take place thousands of years before events in Game Of Thrones in the Age Of Heroes.

In Game Of Thrones lore, the Age Of Heroes began with the pact which brought about peace between the First Men and the Children Of The Forest at the end of the Dawn Age.

The period is strongly tied with the Long Night; an intense winter which lasted an entire generation pitting the Westeros population in a battle against the undead.

Game Of Thrones will return for its final season in 2019.
