KILLING Eve star Gemma Whelan is to front ITV’s gritty new crime thriller The Tower.
The actress, who also starred in Game of Thrones, will take the lead in a three-part series playing the role of Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins.
Gemma, 39, heads up the cast in the drama adapted by Homeland writer and executive producer Patrick Harbinson.
As DS Collins, she’s tasked with tracking down Lizzie when she goes missing after a veteran beat cop and a teenage girl fall to their deaths from a tower block in south-east London.
Lizzie and a five-year-old boy were the only two left on the roof following the fall.
The Tower is based on Post Mortem, the first in Kate London’s Metropolitan series of novels featuring Sarah Collins and rookie cop Lizzie Griffiths.
London is a former Met Police Officer who finished her career working as part of a Major Investigation Team on the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
Filming for the series is set to to commence later this month and further casting details will be announced in due course.
Gemma is best known for playing Yara Greyjoy in the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones.
The actress and comedian also starred as Detective Eunice Noon on the first season of Channel 4’s The End of the F***ing World.
Her other credits include Emma and White House Farm.
She’s currently filming the second series of Gentleman Jack alongside Suranne Jones.
Whelan plays Suranne’s on-screen sister Marian in the BBC period drama based on the real life diaries of Anne, who bucked the social norms of her time to pursue a romantic relationship with a woman.
