Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, movie studios have had to hit pause on filming. Case in point: Disney had to put on hold The Eternals, a big Marvel blockbuster about a group of god-like super-powered beings tasked with defending Earth.
However, in a twist of much needed good news, Game of Thrones star Kit Harington — who plays Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight — has confirmed that filming on The Eternals is done, breaking the news during a Twitter discussion:
“Well, that’s done, that’s filmed,” Harington said. That likely means The Eternals was finished filming before the shelter-in-place orders started to roll in, although no one knows how this crisis is affecting things behind the scenes. Or at least, Harington doesn’t. “It’s just, God knows what happened…or what’s going on with it, I have no idea,” he said. “I don’t know what’s happening with anything right now.”
The movie is supposed to come out on February 12, 2021. We’ll see!
Moving on, Brenock O’Connor — the guy who played Olly, the kid who delivered the killing blow to Jon Snow at the end of season 5 — talked about auditioning for (and not getting) the lead role in Amazon’s upcoming series Alex Rider, based on a series of young adult books by Anthony Horowitz about a teenage spy.
“There’s not a boy in England who doesn’t know Alex Rider from a certain generation,” O’Connor told Digital Spy. “I was auditioning for Alex originally, and I got the thing through originally, and I [found out] I’m not Alex Rider.”
Even though he didn’t land the title role, O’Connor did nab the part of Tom Harris, one of Alex’s friends. “I read the scene, and it was this scene between Alex and this kid who was this nerdy kid who was into films, and wasn’t very good at all the action stuff. They liked me for Alex until the final day, and then on the final day, they were like, ‘Oh can you read Tom’s [lines]?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve been saying that since the beginning!’”
Finally, Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) is taking part in the #passthemic campaign, where film and television actors hand control of their social media accounts to an expert from the CDC who will answer questions and educate folks on how to slow the spread of COVID-19.
And then he played some frisbee golf:
And then he played frisbee golf for giants:
Do you even know how much sour goats milk he had to drink in order to get that kind of upper body strength?
