The final season of Game of Thrones may be over, but clearly, winter is coming for Kris Jenner.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and her boyfriend Corey Gamble attended Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney‘s wedding in Rhode Island this past weekend. Upon arriving for the rehearsal dinner Friday evening, paparazzi photographed Jenner in a black fur coat that for some critics, was a bit reminiscent of Westeros.

The choice to wear animal fur has gotten some celebrities in trouble in the past. Although the fur on the coat Jenner wore on Friday was faux, anti-fur activists took to Twitter to voice their opinions about the media mogul.

Twitter throws shade at Kris Jenner

Considering Kris Jenner skipped her own daughter’s birthday party to attend the Hunger Games star’s wedding weekend, she made sure to show up in style. The Daily Mail reported that the Kardashian family matriarch “appeared in good spirits as she strolled along a walkway,” making her appearance at Jennifer Lawrence’s pre-wedding festivities.

Jenner showed up to the star-studded event in a “$4,850 … black Tom Ford faux fur hooded coat over a casual grey v-neck jumper and casual trousers,” the Daily Mirror reported.

But even though the long and fuzzy jacket was, in fact, made of fake fur, that didn’t stop Twitter users, including Perez Hilton, from attacking the famous “momager.”

“I wouldn’t let somebody into my party if they showed up in fur,” wrote one Twitter user.

“No one should be wearing fur,” another criticized.

While the fur coat Jenner wore to Lawrence’s rehearsal dinner was not authentic, the shade wasn’t completely unfounded; Kris Jenner and the other Kardashian women have donned the controversial material several times in the past.

One of the Kardashian sisters said goodbye to fur

But Kim Kardashian West has recently taken a different stance from her mother on fur. In fact, she ditched it altogether after anti-fur protesters showed up at one of her book signings, followed by PETA activists flour-bombing her. Although Kardashian West used to wear the real thing, in June she announced that she was remaking all of her coats with faux fur.

The reality star posted an Instagram picture of her oldest daughter, North, who was nearly swallowed whole by her mother’s puffy white coat. Kardashian West explained in the caption that she “took all of [her] fave furs and remade them in faux fur.”

Style watch: Kris Jenner or Jon Snow?

The 63-year-old reality star didn’t just receive judgment online from the anti-fur community. Other users pointed out Kris Jenner was dressed like the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.

“She looks like Jon Snow,” a tweeter wrote.

While Jenner’s furs tend to be a a bit more glamorous and (and a lot less snow-covered) than the Game of Thrones character’s fashions, we can’t help but notice the resemblance between her long black jacket and the HBO series’ Night’s Watch uniforms.

House Kardashian vs. House Stark

As for who rocks animal pelts better? That may be a style preference, but we can certainly say who wears it a little less problematically.

GoT‘s costume designer Michele Clapton did use real fur on the show–except for the actors who were opposed to it.

“Certain actors won’t wear it and we’ll respect that,” Clapton told the Telegraph. “We’ll always try to make it in fake fur instead but when you’re depicting the things that we are a lot of the time it doesn’t work.” Season 3 alone of the medieval fantasy drama used 30,000 square feet of fur and leather.

However, Clapton tried for the most animal-friendly approach possible, even using rugs from a popular Swedish furniture store to round out the Night’s Watch costumes. At a Getty Museum event in Los Angeles, Chapman admitted many of “the capes worn by members of The Night’s Watch were made from rugs that were purchased at Ikea.”

Clapton also told the Telegraph she would “never” commission new fur, but rather “hunts out vintage fur from French markets.”

A matriarch living in the Age of Heroes

The same can’t always be said for Kris Jenner. Although Jenner avoided the real deal this past weekend, she has been photographed several times in the past wearing authentic fur.

Whether Kris Jenner’s fashion choices have been inspired by the iconic fantasy epic, we’re not sure. Nor can we say for certain if the choice to go faux this past weekend is a sign the KUWTK star will start walking the animal-friendly path.

What we do know: the woman knows how to get media attention. As Kris Jen–uh, we mean, Bran the Broken, would say: “chaos is a ladder.”
