Lena Headey has celebrated her Game of Thrones co-star Hannah Waddingham’s win at the 2021 Emmy Awards for Ted Lasso, describing her friend as a ‘glorious rad human’.

In Game of Thrones, Hannah portrayed the unforgettable ‘Shame Nun’ who forced Cersei Lannister, played by Lena, to walk the streets of King’s Landing naked as she rang a bell behind her, continually shouting ‘shame’ as the crowds leered at the Queen.

Cersei achieved her revenge in season six, when she organised for the nun Unella to be tortured by the monstrous Ser Gregor Clegane (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson).

In real life, Lena and Hannah are close friends, with Lena honouring Hannah after the Emmys in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Hannah received the very first award of the night, presented with the best supporting actress in a comedy accolade by Seth Rogen for her performance as Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso.

Lena shared a photo of Hannah in her Emmys gown, with the actor looking statuesque in the peach, one-shoulder Christian Siriano design.

‘Could not have happened to a more GLORIOUS RAD HUMAN,’ Lena wrote in the caption.

‘Congrats @hannah_waddingham You shined tonight as you always do .. With wattage enough to power a universe and a gob like a FARKIN sailor … I’m bursting with joy.’

Several of Lena’s famous followers commented underneath the post showering Hannah with praise, with Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood writing: ‘Oh she is a goddess.’

‘Yes. Yes. YES. YES,’ wrote comedian Celeste Barber, while Once Upon A Time actor Victoria Smurfit commented: ‘Utterly brilliant woman!!’

Hannah was overcome with emotion as she arrived on stage to collect her award, her eyes brimming with tears as she thanked Ted Lasso lead Jason Sudeikis for ‘changing her life’.

‘You changed my life with this and more importantly, my baby girl’s,’ she said.

Hannah also paid homage to her Ted Lasso co-star Juno Temple, who plays Keeley Jones in the show.

‘There’s no Rebecca without Keeley,’ Hannah said, having given Juno a massive hug when she found out she’d won the award.

Hannah stars in Sex Education as Sofía Marchetti, reprising her role in season three, which was released on Netflix last week.

She has also starred in theatrical productions including The Wizard of Oz and Kiss Me, Kate in the West End.
