Arya Stark’s future remains uncertain
For years, fans have imagined what Arya’s adventures beyond the known maps of Westeros might look like. Speculation intensified when reports of a potential Arya-focused project circulated online, but Williams admitted she was just as surprised by the conversation as everyone else.
“I saw that, too,” the star said of the rumors in an interview with The Guardian. “I was like, huh?”
The response isn’t exactly a confirmation or a denial, but it does suggest that Williams herself isn’t actively developing such a project. For fans hoping an announcement is right around the corner, that answer may dampen expectations, at least for now.
Returning to Arya would require a new chapter
Although Williams didn’t commit to revisiting Arya, she did explain what would need to happen before she could step back into the role.

The actress noted that both she and the character would need room to evolve beyond the version audiences remember from the original series. She said:
“I don’t know, really. She would have to be developed in some way because I feel like I’ve changed so much, and I feel like what people loved about Arya is that she was always a child doing things that were quite grown-up.”
It’s an interesting perspective. Arya’s appeal was tied to watching a young girl navigate a dangerous world far beyond her years. Revisiting her as an adult would inevitably require a different kind of story. Whether that story ever reaches television remains unknown, but Williams’ comments make it clear she wouldn’t want to return simply for the sake of nostalgia.
