Which Game of Thrones villain does Maisie Williams wish Arya Stark killed? (Picture: HBO)

Maisie Williams has revealed the character she really wished Arya Stark killed in Game of Thrones, even if it meant dying in the process.

As if saving all of Westeros after sticking a dagger into the Night King wasn’t enough, Maisie was gutted her warrior and trusted weapon of choice, Pin, didn’t take out another huge force in Game of Thrones.

In the upcoming book, Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series, from Entertainment Weekly’s James Hibberd, Maisie reflects on her eight seasons in Game of Thrones, and has one regret.

‘I wanted her to kill Cersei, even if it meant she dies,’ the 23-year-old said.

‘Even up to the point where she’s with Jaime, I thought he’s going to whip off his face [and be revealed as Arya], and they were both going to die.

‘I thought that’s what Arya’s drive had been.’

Cersei (Lena Headey) was eventually bumped off in the penultimate episode of season eight, in the most unjustifiably kind death Game of Thrones had to offer whe she pershed in the arms of her love, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), as King’s Landing crumbled on top of them.

However, Arya did manage to defeat humanity’s biggest foe in The Night King, an honour which many of her Game of Thrones castmates were desperate to behold.

Most notably Kit Harington, who always thought his hero Jon Snow would be the one to kill the leader of the White Walkers, and was even told so.

‘[Kit Harrington] expected it to go [Jon Snow’s] way, too, and he even said, ‘It was going to go that way. Someone told me in season three that I was going to kill the Night King,’” Maisie recalled to the Hollywood Reporter.

“And then, he read the script, and it was Arya the whole time. [Laughs.] Yeah, I think it would’ve been too obvious.

‘I’m glad that it was Arya, honestly. I think I had the best storyline of the final season.’

‘Then, he read the script, and it was Arya the whole time,’ she laughed.

Game of Thrones is available to stream on NOW TV.
