Another Game of Thrones prequel show is taking a big step forward at HBO.

According to Deadline, HBO is moving forward on a 10,000 Ships series based on the aftermath of the Second Spice War from spin-off material from author George RR Martin.

10,000 Ships is one of three new prequel ideas HBO was confirmed to be working on along with two other spin-off shows in various stages of production earlier this year.

HBO has signed up Marvel’s Helstrom producer Amanda Segel to oversee the sword-and-sandal-style 10,000 Ships, following Princess Nymeria and her surviving Rhoynars.

The Princess is struggling to find a new home for her people following their crushing defeat at the hands of the Valyrian Freehold, forcing her to travel on the high seas all the way from Essos to Dorne.

Many Game of Thrones viewers will also probably remember that Arya Stark’s direwolf was named after Princess Nymeria.

Aside from the short-lived Marvel series, Segel has also worked on Stephen King’s The Mist, Shooter and Person of Interest as both writer and producer.

10,000 Ships joins House of the Dragon, currently in production and the furthest along of all of the Game of Thrones prequel shows presently in development.

HBO released the first official photos of Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Emma D’Arcy and Steve Toussaint as Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors.

Also in the works is a show based on Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, about the travels of Ser Duncan the Tall and the young future King, Aegon V Targaryen.

HBO and HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys recently shed some light on the concepts for the prequels he’d picked, telling TVLine: “So we’ve been trying to be thoughtful about what are the stories that are worth telling.

“What would be exciting? What would fans love? Dunk and Egg is one of those, but not the only one.”

Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. Spin-off House of the Dragon is now filming.
