It’s April, the traditionally favored month for Game of Thrones season premieres (in fact it’s only nine days until the anniversary of the show’s very first season premiere back in 2011), and with no final season in sight, it’s easy to start getting antsy. The good news is that it looks like all of our patience is going to pay off. Reports came in earlier this week that the show, which is still filming, recently concluded a grueling fifty-five day battle shoot. Almost two months long, the length of the shoot surpasses that of the “Battle of the Bastards,” and given how epic that battle was, this one is sure to dazzle (and probably also frazzle some main characters). Good things take time!

Joe Dempsie (Gendry) has been chatting with various media outlets quite a bit of late, and he assured us that when it finally airs, Thrones going to have a satisfying, albeit shocking conclusion. In another interview, he also hinted that he and his character will have a major role in Season Eight. Good news for all you fans of Gendry! Speaking of roles, a  young actress has apparently joined the show for its final season. According to her agency site, Bronte Carmichael will be involved with the show, though who she will be playing is not clear. There have been several casting calls in the past months for young actresses needed for the show and we’ve seen child actors play a variety interesting roles before, from young Cersei to creepy Qartheen warlocks to the polarizing Lyanna Mormont. Carmichael has a rather Northern look, so perhaps Lyanna will find a new ally of her own age. We shall see.

Other than that, Game of Thrones news is fairly quiet right now, but its stars continue to enjoy success outside of the show. Rose Leslie (Ygritte) is apparently trying very hard to avoid getting any Game of Thrones spoilers from her fiancé, Kit Harington (Jon Snow). Sadly, she won’t have to worry about that much longer, and indeed many Thrones stars are already finding ways to keep busy and further their careers as Thrones winds down. “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” featuring our own Mother of Dragons, Emilia Clarke is a little more than a month away from its premiere. Meanwhile, Peter Dinklage is apparently in the much anticipated Marvel film, “Avengers: Infinity War,” although no one quite seems to know who he will be playing or what he will be doing. Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), who will be in the upcoming “Predator” re-make by Shane Black which comes out this September, has also recently been cast in “Paradise Hills,” a sci-fi thriller. Aiden Gillen (Petyr Baelish) is also finding projects to occupy his time after his untimely death on Game of Thrones last season. There are so many talented individuals involved in Game of Thrones and it’s nice to know we can plan to keep seeing them on our screens long after the show is finished.
