Olivia Cooke wanted a healthier relationship with life

During an interview with Town & Country, Cooke was asked whether she spends time on social media these days.

Her answer was straightforward.

“I’m not, actually. It’s actually lovely. I got rid of all of that earlier this year, to the point where I do feel like someone’s nan because I genuinely don’t know what’s going on.”

The actress explained that stepping away from social platforms has been a positive change, even if it means occasionally feeling disconnected from online trends and conversations.

For an actor constantly in the public eye thanks to House of the Dragon, choosing not to engage with social media is a notable decision, particularly at a time when many celebrities use those platforms as a major part of their public presence.

Alicent’s actress says social media wasn’t nourishing her

Cooke went on to explain that the move wasn’t about avoiding fans or publicity. It was about prioritizing her wellbeing.

“[Social media] is so unhealthy and I just wanted to live a healthier life and just have—I don’t know, I just wanted to cull the things that just weren’t nourishing for me, and that was one of them.”

The comments echo concerns many people have expressed about the impact of social media on mental health and daily life.

While Alicent Hightower spends much of House of the Dragon navigating political pressure and public scrutiny, Cooke appears to have found her own solution to a modern version of those challenges: simply logging off.
