The filming of Game of Thrones Season 8 officially wrapped up back in July and we’ve been waiting for the announcement of the airing date. It’s hard for us as fans to digest that an epic series that lasted for around nine years is finally coming to an end. And, it’s even harder for the cast members for whom Game of Thrones has lately become a family. Peter Dinklage – the actor, who plays Tyrion Lannister on the show, recently discussed the same with the Indie Wire. Read on.

Peter Dinklage says Tyrion has feelings for Daenerys Targaryen

Previously, we brought you an update where Kit Harington (Jon Snow) shared his views on the series finally coming to an end. Peter Dinklage too discussed what it felt like leaving Game of Thrones and moving on. He said,

“It was very sad…This is not only a great TV show to be a part of, but it was an enormous family to be a part of.”

“I was far from home…I live in New York and we shot the show in Europe, so many times I had to stay there and couldn’t go home on the weekends and really developed deep roots in the community of Ireland and some of the other countries we shot in.”

Speculation on Tyrion’s concerned look on Jon and Dany’s pivotal scene in Game of Thrones season 7 finale

Like Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and others, Peter too had wrapped up filming months ago. We imagine it would have been an emotional day for him like his other co-stars to work on the last day and biding everyone a goodbye. Talking about his last day of filming on the set of Game of Thrones, the actor ended by saying:

“[It was] definitely hard to say goodbye to because it wasn’t just saying goodbye to the show, [I] was saying goodbye to a life over there.”

Peter has started his role in Game of Thrones back in Season 1 with the episode ‘Winter is Coming’. His character was shown to be a clever but an unavowed son of Tywin Lannister, who took pride in repeating the motto ‘a Lannister always pays his debts’. But, his character took a sudden drift in the Fourth Season when he was sentenced to death for Joffrey’s murder, which he didn’t commit. Eventually, now he serves as the Hand of Queen Daenerys Targaryen. The 2018 Emmy winner has much left in his character’s arc – the final season shall reveal!

What do you think will be the role of Tyrion Lannister in the final season? Tell us in the comments.
