Nearly a month after Game of Thrones went off the air, artist Robert Ball has released the last of his “Beautiful Death” series of posters, this one highlighting both Daenerys Targaryen’s death and her path to the Iron Throne. Gaze upon Ball’s final — and perhaps best — work, and see if you can spot all the details!

Ball has been making these since the beginning of the series, always highlighting a death in that particular episode, interpreting it in all manner of abstract ways. Sometimes one presents presents more of a challenge than another, but for “The Iron Throne,” there was really only one way to go. It had to be about Daenerys. What I really love is much of her journey is included.

Starting at the bottom with Jon’s final words to Dany — “You are my queen, now and always” — you’ve got a nod to the start of Dany’s journey story with the dragon eggs in the lower right-hand corner of the frame. From the trailer of blood winds its way towards the Iron Throne — notice the Sons of the Harpy masks on the ground and Jaime’s golden hand buried in the rubble.

We also see a Unsullied spear in the smoke above the Iron Throne, Drogon’s head made of spears and swords in the middle/right, and Dany herself sitting down, silhouetted in fire with Jon’s dagger in her heart.

A “Beautiful Death” indeed. Thank you for the memories Mr. Ball! And let us know if you see anything else hidden in the image.
