On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Tuesday October 31st, 2017) Mark Ellis, Clarke Wolfe, Jon Schnepp and Ashley Mova discuss the following:

1) James Gunn asks Marvel and DC Fans to try and get along

2) Ron Howard reportedly reshot almost all of Solo: A Star Wars Story

3) Opening This Week – Thor Ragnarok

4) Lupita Nyong’o & Josh Gad Board Zombie Comedy Little Monsters

5) Anna Kendrick posts first look as Santa Claus’ daughter in newly retitled ‘Noelle’

6) Mail Bag

7) Live Twitter Questions

Over the weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn took to his twitter account to try and bury the supposed grudge between DC and Marvel fans. In a series of tweets, Gunn explained that it drove him nuts how he was not able to mention Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice without a heated argument popping up amongst his fans – words that caused the director to “mute a lot of you guys, but not all.”

On the latest episode of Star Wars News Net‘s The Resistance Broadcast, a claim by an inside source of theirs purports that Ron Howard reshot “nearly all” of Solo: A Star Wars Story and for possibly “twice the budget.” The report estimates that 80% or more of the Star Wars story was reshot by Howard after he took over for Lord and Miller, even as initial reports from Lucasfilm said Howard would take over the remaining three-and-a-half weeks of principal photography as well as five weeks of reshoots.

OPENING THIS WEEK

TRICK OR TREAT

THR reports that Lupita Nyong’o and Josh Gad have signed on to star in the zombie comedy Little Monsters from Australian writer-director Abe Forsythe. Alien: Covenant’s Alexander England also stars as Dave, a washed-up musician who volunteers to chaperone his nephew’s kindergarten class field trip after falling for his teacher Miss Caroline, played by Nyong’o.

Anna Kendrick took to her Instagram account to share the first look at her character in Disney’s live-action Christmas movie and in doing so, revealed the new title of the film as ‘Noelle.’ Once titled Nicole Claus, the story revolves around Santa’s daughter forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and her brother’s get cold feet on Christmas Eve.

  1. A Bad Moms Christmas was really funny.

other Films I'm seeing this week are

    Thor: Ragnarok(maybe twice)
My Friend Dahmer(a Young Jeffrey Dahmer film starring Ross Lynch)
LBJ(the new Rob Reiner film with Woody Harrelson)
Pokemon The Movie: I Choose You
The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

  2. Mark is your costume a vague reference to the current shit coming on I mean in no no no I mean out of Hollywood? I mean come on, the guy was burned alive after dideling the naborhood kids

  3. I concur with Ellis. Pet Sematary is one of the most psychologically scary movies ever produced, due to the nature of the story. Walking in the woods, in the dark, and encountering strangers, strange things, evil spirits, etc. (original EVIL DEAD, most ZOMBIE movies, etc.) are usually the themes when it comes to scary stories and movies. Well made, they can give you some goosebumps.

But if the stories are about beloved family members (the EXORCISE, PET SEMATARY, etc.), it could truly be hair raising because the psychology is so much more intimate, totally unexpected. And more than just pure freight, out there… it's also about a intimate, heart wrenching family tragedy: the dad is heart broken, with his precious son dead; but does he want him to "return" like the cat, more or less a zombie-like creature? Of course, all of it could just be a grieving father going insane…

That's why PET SEMATARY is scary, as it works on different levels, the serious and the fantastical spheres…

  4. Thank the maker! Haha no seriously! Im glad Howard reshot 80% i had no faith in lord and miller. Not during the time fram SOLO is set in. Its an imperial ran galaxy w war and death all around, i dont see how funny that can be…. and honestly 21 jump street isnt my kind of humor, thats probably my main reason i had no faith. But im actually going to go see SOLO now. Wasnt going to before just watch it on my firestick haha. #SOLO

  5. It’s a noble effort by James Gunn to try to be the peacemaker and stop the two sides from fighting, but unfortunately he’s wasting his time. The only way the two sides will stop fighting is if everybody in the world stops fighting altogether. In other words, if world peace is established. Unfortunately DC and Marvel are so easy to compare and people have their preferences as to who they like better. But the fanboys over the internet who insult each other personally and send death threats and shit like that are just losers. Pure and simple. It’s never that serious. Then there are other people who ignite the flames because they’re entertained by other people going at it. Either way, I don’t see the fanboy flame war stopping anytime soon if at all. It’s human nature.
