Star Wars is easily one of the biggest franchises in the world ever, so naturally when something like Game Of Thrones threatens to take your crown, George Lucas swooped in to snoop on the competition.
Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth on the show, spilled that the Star Wars creator had slipped on to the set once or twice, and he thinks it was to help them shape upcoming plots in the futuristic universe.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Liam said: ‘It’s funny because George came here and talked to the boys, and the one thing the Star Wars franchise has been missing lately is decent storytelling.
‘There’s a lot of brilliant stuff in Star Wars, it’s an epic franchise, but occasionally, story-wise, it’s left a little to be desired.
‘Dan and David are brilliant at surprises and can transfer the demographic from this show to that [Star Wars].’
‘They’re incredible at adapting a world and making it their own and they could add a layer of complexity to it,’ he added. ‘I’d love it if they gave me some words to say, though I’d probably just be in a helmet.’
While the fantasy world of Westeros and the future of Star Wars universe doesn’t seem likely to have a crossover, there pair have definitely been borrowing off each other when it comes to casting.
Most notably, Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth in GOT, also had a leading role in the latest sequels to the main Star Wars universe, playing Captain Phasma in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
The Three-Eyed Raven of season six, aka actor Max von Sydow, also played religious Lor San Tekka in Star Wars’ The Force Awakens.
Game Of Thrones returns 14 April on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
