Following the success of House of the Dragon, the world of Westeros is now expanding to welcome new characters and stories that are dealing with the ground reality of the Kingdom. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premiered on HBO this Monday, quickly becoming the most watched show on the platform.

Starring Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, A Knight of the Seven Kingdom is inspired by George R.R. Martin’s novella called Tales of Dunk and Egg. Away from the bickering royals, this story is more about a Knight and his squire on an adventure across Westeros and discovering their purpose in life.

HBO is no stranger to superhit shows that garner the excitement of masses at once across the world. However, the success of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a welcome surprise. Over 6.7 million views have been recorded for the premiere episode of the show, consolidating its place in the platform’s portfolio of blockbuster content. (via Variety)

Already established shows like The Pitt and newcomer Industry, which were highly anticipated, could only garner 5.4 million and 800,000 views respectively. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is quickly becoming a fan favorite, proving why HBO was right to renew it for a second season before the first one premiered.

The first episode gave viewers a glimpse into the characters’ lives and how their dynamic can develop in the story ahead. Moreover, we also got to see ancestors of some of the famous Westeros families including Targaryens and Baratheons. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms also features Daniel Ings, Bertie Carvel, Danny Webb, Sam Spruell, Shaun Thomas, Finn Bennett, Edward Ashley, Tanzyn Crawford, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Daniel Monks.

The story of Dunk and Egg continues in the next episode, releasing on Sunday, 25th January. We saw Egg finally catching up with Dunk in Ashford and convincing him to take him along. With the tournament coming up soon, Dunk will need his strength and his wits about him to fight some of the greatest knights of the continent.

Episode 2 will feature Dunk taking Egg’s assistance as he speaks to various Lords to help him. He needs some support with a Lord to carry his banner, which will be interesting to watch. The remaining four episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will release weekly, on Sundays, on HBO Max.
