Another week, another episode of Take the Black Live, full of delicious and nutritious news and impressions of all things sci-fi, fantasy, and genre. The fall TV season is underway, and we’re eager to talk about it, plus a whole lot of other things.
Honestly, we skip all over the place in this episode. First, we take a peek inside a trio of new Game of Thrones coffee table books on the market right in time for the holidays: The Art of Game of Thrones, The Photography of Game of Thrones, and Game of Thrones: A Guide to Westeros and Beyond. Then we discuss the fallout from the announcement of House of the Dragon — HBO’s new Game of Thrones prequel series — last week. What does George R.R. Martin have to say about it? Where are David Benioff and Dan Weiss in all this?
And then we blow the show wide open, hitting the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a mysterious teaser for the next season of Doctor Who, and the swiftly expanding cast of The Batman. At some point, I get way more heated over Bane’s appearance in 1997’s Batman & Robin. I have no regrets. Well, not many.
Finally, we talk about what we’ve been watching lately, including Watchmen and His Dark Materials. And there’s more great TV on the way!
