The exciting adventure of Dunk and Egg has officially begun with the premiere of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Dunk is an aspiring knight with no close family or fortune to rely on. He embarks on a journey to find his purpose and a way to sustain himself. Along the way, he meets Egg, an orphan boy working at a roadside inn. The two develop an unlikely friendship in Ashford and Dunk makes his first friend in the show.

However, that’s not all. As soon as the duo reach Ashford, a pretty girl catches Dunk’s attention when she’s performing the puppet show with much enthusiasm and charm. Dunk seems to be falling for her and cannot keep his emotions contained. They cross paths once again when Dunk needs someone to paint his shield for the upcoming tournament.

The second time Dunk sees Tanselle, he gathers the courage to actually have a conversation. He learns that she is an artist and a painter who helped create the puppets and the set for their earlier performance and is from Dorne. Dunk requests Tanselle to paint his shield and she accepts the job without missing a beat.

The two exchange playful flirtations as they relate to the experience of being taller than their other peers. Actress Tanzyn Crawford, who plays Tanselle in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, shared with Decider that she spoke with Ira Parker on the dynamic between Dunk and Tanselle before landing on how she will play the scene. She said,

“We landed on maybe in the beginning it’s not so much a mutual attraction. I think it grows over the episodes. Yeah, I like that it’s kind of a mystery because I think that’s how it is in real life. I mean, how often have you been in love with someone and no one’s ever known? And then that person just passes you by and you never speak to them again. So, yeah, I think it’s like a little bit unrequited maybe on both sides at points in certain conversations.”

Tanselle’s talent draws other people to her. She is magnetic and passionate on stage that further adds to her flair for performing. Fans will have to wait for future episodes to see how this unique love affair pans out between Dunk and Tanselle.

Dexter Sol Ansell found the flirting scene hilarious

While Dunk tries, albeit awkwardly, to flirt with Tanselle and make her feel comfortable, we see Egg caught in the scene’s tension. He tries to grease the conversation but to no avail. In the same interview, Egg actor Dexter Sol Ansell told Decider how hard it was to not laugh during this scene. He said,

“I was holding laughter that whole entire scene. Because he was saying stuff like, ‘Oh, it’s just for…’ And then I just pop in with, ‘Puppets!’ That scene was absolutely hilarious.”

Seeing Dunk navigate a romantic relationship on the show would be fun since his awkward and gentle demeanor would eventually lead to funny situations. Egg’s curiosity to know more and to intervene in other people’s business might also add fuel to the fire.
