A Game of Thrones: The Board Game is a tabletop game released years ago by Fantasy Flight Games. You take control of one of the great houses of Westeros — the Lannisters, Starks, Greyjoys, etc — and try to stake your claim to the Iron Throne in the wake of King Robert Baratheon’s death. Based directly on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series rather than HBO’s show, it was a satisfyingly rich experience for superfans and newcomers alike:

And now, it’s going digital, courtesy of Dire Wolf and Asmodee Digital. Players can face down the AI by themselves or play with a total of six others online, everyone trying to outwit, outfight and outlast the others until the throne is in their clutches.

“Winning requires more than just military might…players must either take power through force, use honeyed words to coerce their way onto the throne, or rally the townsfolk to their side,” reads the game’s press release. “Through strategic planning, masterful diplomacy and clever strategic decisions, players can spread their influence over Westeros.”

Each game lasts 10 rounds, which translates to about an hour. There’s a lot of resource management involved, so if that’s your thing, this could be right up your alley. And the Game of Thrones coat of paint makes it even more appealing.
