Hafþór Júlíus ‘Thor’ Björnsson (that massive bloke who played The Mountain in Game of Thrones) has revealed more about his diet plan – which, on the plus side, involves five massive meals a day, but on the downside, also includes a lot of working out.
During an interview with BroBible, he was killing two birds by speaking to press while ‘chowing down on a bowl that appeared to contain a week’s worth of meal prep’.
The reporter said what we’d have all been thinking, asking him to explain what he was chowing down on.
“Rice, steak – this was ribeye I minced down – peppers, carrots, and there are supplements in here as well,” Björnsson explained.
“The liquid is chicken stock. It is the best meal for growth and strength. I’ll eat this five times a day.”
Sometimes he mixes it up a bit, though, as he also divulged his typical breakfast is six eggs and six pieces of bacon with a cup of rice.

But Björnsson admitted it’s not all a walk in the park when you’re as big as he is, saying that some elements of day-to-day life can be a bit of a strain.
“I like being tall,” he began.
“The only thing that has annoyed me being this tall and heavy is that you can’t really fit anywhere. You have to custom-make the bed [and] you can’t travel with your bed. It’s very annoying.
“Trying to fit into a cab or Uber is challenging as well. I have to fly business class because I just don’t fit into economy. Otherwise, I’m proud to be tall.”
Recently we also found out the other downside to being massive – it doesn’t sound that easy, as Björnsson’s workout routine sounds, frankly, horrible.
The details were revealed in a guide to ‘Thor’s Power Program’ on his official website, which reads: “Thor’s Power Program is how Thor trained 12 weeks out from the beginning of his strongman competition season to get strong. REALLY STRONG. He followed the Strength System, created by his coach Sebastian Oreb, where the main tool to strengthen his body was a barbell.
“He performed the basic gym lifts; squat, deadlift, bench press and overhead press, with an enormous emphasis on lifting technique, as well as an intelligent approach to load selection and recovery.
“The exercises, techniques and principles used in Thor’s Power Program can be followed by anyone who wants to develop a strong body that moves well and is free from injury.”

Okay, so let’s break it down, shall we?
Here’s your first set: “162kg loglift, 162kg axle, 105kg dumbbell, 135kg block press. 3 sets today.”
Well that already sounds disgusting.
What about the second set? That one any better? “Log press. 185kg x 2 reps. Lightweight baby”.
That’s right ‘log press’ and ‘lightweight baby’ in the same sentence.
And he’s still going: “220kg/484lbs 3×3 200kg/440lbs x7.”
I mean, I’m just exhausted thinking about all that.
