Not only was comic book Negan modeled after Henry Rollins, but before JDM was ultimately cast to play Negan on the show, Rollins was amongst those who auditioned for the role, and he did so enthusiastically as he loved the character inspired by him, but the writers and/or the network went with JDM instead.

It's the network that's ruining this show, not its writers — the latter are just doing what the network tells them to do.

I think that someone will do something to upset commonwealth. Commonwealth will be trying to find out who it is but the audience knows that it's Maggie. Negan says it is him to save Maggie but he is executed.

Given the recent way they write things I'm going to assume Negan trips over a rock, looks over his shoulder to see a horde approaching 15 minutes away. So he just lays there screaming all 15 mins with a lightly scraped knee until the horde arrives and eats him.
