If you want superspy espionage action, you probably go to James Bond. But if you want it with an American flair, Tom Clancy is your guy. He made a career out of writing military and espionage thrillers like Rainbow Six and The Hunt for Red October. His most successful series by far are the Jack Ryan books, about a CIA analyst turned super-spy.

Jack Ryan has turned up onscreen a few times, most recently on Amazon Prime Video, where he’s played by The Office veteran John Krasinski. Now, Deadline reports that his show Jack Ryan will end after the upcoming fourth season.

That won’t be the end of the Tom Clancy-verse on Amazon, though. There’ll be a Jack Ryan spinoff show starring Michael Peña starring as Tom Clancy character Domingo Chavez, and the streamer already had Michael B. Jordan star in a movie version of Clancy’s Without Remorse. But before we get to spinoffs, there’s still the matter of wrapping up the original show, which is only half-done.

There’s still no release date for Jack Ryan season 3

It’s a little odd that we hear about Jack Ryan season 4 being the swan song for the series when season 3 doesn’t even have a premiere date yet. Per The A.V. Club, Amazon announced a fourth season of Jack Ryan seven months ago; there wasn’t a season 3 premiere date then and there isn’t one now.

It’s the kind of twisty mystery that can only be solved by one brainy action hero: Jack Ryan, returning to our screens…eventually.
