I remember the fake scenes from Dallas. To throw everybody off, they filmed individual scenes with each significant character shooting J. R. The last filmed scene had J. R. shooting J. R. and then he has a look on his face like "something's not right." Of course, the question no one had to ask was "Why shoot J. R.?"
Actually, Game of Thrones has dealt with drones with cameras since season 5 as well, according to some behind the scenes footage.

To be fair though, the Walking Dead Lucille clips were used in the show, as Rick's imagination and hallucination. So it was not just for the purpose of confusing fans
One day, some of these clips will appear in the background of TV episodes set on a parallel world, like those "variant" comic book covers on the other Earth on Fringe.
