Vikings isn’t no Game Of Thrones (Picture: History, HBO)

Vikings star Clive Standen has branded comparisons to Game Of Thrones ‘unfair’, pointing out the clear differences between the two shows.

The 37-year-old actor, who plays Viking warrior Rollo, has expressed his discomfort at the comparisons often drawn between the shows, making clear to point out Game Of Thrones isn’t based on actual history.

Speaking to Fox News, Standen said: ‘It’s a bit unfair really. Game Of Thrones is a fantasy show. It has dragons and things. It all comes from the imagination of one man’s mind. Whereas Vikings is a historical drama. It’s documented in history. It’s a very, very broad spectrum of history.

‘But… these are all real characters that lived and breathed and walked the earth. They’re all worthy of history books. Michael Hirst obviously spins his writing imagination to kind of put it all into one TV show. We’re not going to have flying dragons around.’

Some fans have speculated original leading character Ragnar could somehow return in Vikings in the future, after being killed in a pit of venomous snakes.

Standen, however, is here to crush those dreams and remind you once again – this isn’t Game Of Thrones.

Asked about the possibility, Standen said: ‘No, Vikings isn’t Game Of Thrones. You know, this is history. In history, everybody dies. When you’re dead, dead means dead.’

Merry… Christmas?

The first episode of Vikings season five part B recently aired, prompting new theories Rollo could potentially be the next lining up for death.

Vikings continues Wednesday on the History Channel.
