Showrunner Ryan Condal has given fans hope for a future reunion between brothers Aemond and Aegon Targaryen later in House of the Dragon.
In an interview with Los Angeles Times posted on July 19, 2026, Condal addressed the possibility of the two brothers crossing paths again after their dramatic falling out.

Drawing out on how stories turn out in Game of Thrones, Condal said:
“In the great tradition of ‘Game of Thrones,’ I feel like that is a fairly safe bet. Characters are scattered all over the map and then slowly find themselves being brought back together, but in different forms. That was always something we were talking about doing with Aemond and Aegon.”

A complicated brotherly dynamic
The relationship between Aemond and Aegon has been one of the most intense and volatile in the series. From their shared childhood to the devastating events of Season 2 (including Aemond’s betrayal at Rook’s Rest), the brothers are now on very different paths. Aegon is recovering from severe injuries, while Aemond has taken on a more aggressive leadership role and is now stuck at Harrenhall.
Condal’s comments suggest that the show will honour the Game of Thrones tradition of characters eventually converging again, though the reunion may not be a happy one. The phrase “in different forms” implies both brothers will be changed by the war when (or if) they meet again.
