Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) is out and about talking up her new film Early Man, a stop-motion animated move from the people behind the Wallace and Gromit series. On Tuesday, she stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live, where the conversation turned inexorably toward Game of Thrones season 8. Check it out:
How much filming does Williams have ahead of her? “A lot. Endless amounts. It’s a mammoth task this year. It’s huge.” That tracks with what she said earlier about filming filming 12 straight weeks of night shoots — she’s called the filming of season 8 “an impossible challenge.”
Does that mean that Arya will play a big part in all six of the episodes next year? Williams is reluctant to confirm anything. “Not necessarily, cause some of the episodes take a really long time to shoot.” It’s like she’s done this before.
Still, Williams is one of a few people on Earth who know how the story ends, assuming it has just the one ending. Is there any merit to the comments from HBO programming president Casey Bloys that the show may film multiple endings to throw spoiler-hounds off the scent?
Well, I heard this, and I immediately thought, “I don’t think we’ve got the budget to shoot lots of different endings.”
But Bloys is the president, Kimmel points out — surely he knows what the show can afford. “But as we know, sometimes presidents don’t always tell the truth,” Williams retorts. I’ll just leave that there.
As for what the ending involves, Williams is keeping any secrets close to her chest. Only her and the people on the show know for sure…and Williams’ mom. “I sent my mom the scripts,” the actress admitted.
Well, if revealing secrets to an outsider gets Williams blackballed in Hollywood, she can always turn to a life in politics.
